USB Type-CTM Product Registration Process (with and without USB PD 2.0)

Our certified independent test houses are now authorized to test the following product categories:

Peripheral/Peripheral Silicon

  • USB 2.0 Peripherals with USB Type-C with no USB PD
  • USB 2.0 Peripherals with PD 2.0 with or without Modal Operation

Embedded Host

  • USB 2.0 Embedded Hosts with USB Type-C with no USB PD
  • USB 2.0 Embedded hosts with PD 2.0 with no Modal Operation
  • USB 3.1 Gen 1 Embedded hosts with USB Type-C with no USB PD

Host/Host Silicon

  • USB 2.0 Hosts with USB Type-C with no USB PD
  • USB 2.0 Hosts with PD 2.0 with no Modal Operation
  • USB 3.1 Gen 1 Host with USB Type-C with no USB PD
  • USB 3.1 Gen 1 Hosts with PD 2.0 with no Modal Operation
  1. Company must complete a General USB Checklist and the standard USB checklists for the category selected and submit to USB-IF Administration at admin@usb.org. In the email please indicate the desired product category that you would like your product to appear on the Integrator's List (for example: Peripheral > Card Reader) Please note: The product must be using certified connectors to be eligible for certification.
  2. USB-IF will assign a TID.
  3. Company then instructed to contact test lab for testing and provides them TID for the product under test. (View the test lab page for a list of authorized labs)
  4. Test Lab sends results to TechAdmin/Admin for review.
  5. TechAdmin will review results.
  6. USB-IF Administration will send PASS/FAIL notice to product contact. Note: Only companies with a valid Trademark License Agreement on file will be eligible to use the USB-IF logos.

Note: Test IDs (TIDs) are assigned by the USB-IF or by the certified independent test lab at the time of testing.

Alternate Mode Adapter Registration Process

Alternate Mode Adapters can now be tested our one of our certified independent test houses.

  1. Company must complete an Alternate Mode Registration Form and submit to USB-IF Administration at admin@usb.org. In the email please indicate the desired product category that you would like your product to appear on the Integrator's List (for example: Peripheral > Card Reader) Please note: The product must be using certified connectors to be eligible for certification.
  2. USB-IF will assign a TID.
  3. Company then instructed to contact test lab for testing and provides them TID for the product under test. (View the test lab page for a list of authorized labs)
  4. Test Lab sends results to TechAdmin/Admin for review.
  5. TechAdmin will review results.

  4. Test Lab sends results to TechAdmin/Admin for review.
  5. TechAdmin will review results.
  6. USB-IF Administration will send PASS/FAIL notice to product contact. Note: Only companies with a valid Trademark License Agreement on file will be eligible to use the USB-IF logos.
