USB - IF Compliance Workshop #105, August 2017

USB-IF Compliance Workshops are held regularly to promote USB product development. Please remember that all attendees must be USB Implementers Forum members in good standing and be pre-registered in order to attend. Please be sure to thoroughly test your products and complete the required checklists before coming to a Compliance Workshop. Registration & Workshop Overview


USB Power Delivery

USB Power Delivery(PD) 2.0 certification will be available for USB PD 2.0 E-markers and USB PD Only Silicon, PD 2.0 Power Bricks. USB PD 3.0 certification is available for PD 3.0 E-Markers. USB PD E-marker,  USB PD Only Silicon, and USB PD 2.0 Power Brick registrants only attend one day of the workshop. Testing will be held from 8:30am – 6:00pm on the day selected. Please complete the product registration form.


Note: PD Only Silicon and PD 2.0 E-Marker seeking USB certification must be using certified connectors.


PD 2.0 Only Silicon and PD 2.0 E-Markers

Testing for PD Only Silicon and PD E-Markers will be held from 8:30am – 6:00pm on the day selected. Check-in for your product is on the day selected from 8:00am - 8:30am.Connectors must be certified in order to be eligible for certification.


Power Brick

The following Power Brick categories are available for certification:

  • PD 2.0 Power Brick
  • Power Brick (USB-C, no PD)

The following Power Brick categories are available for information only:

  • PD 3.0 Power Brick (with PPS
  • PD 3.0 Power Brick (no PPS)


Testing for Power Bricks will be held from 8:30am – 6:00pm on the day selected. Check-in for your product is on the day selected from 8:00am - 8:30am. Connectors must be certified in order to be eligible for certification.


Alt Mode Adapter

Testing for Alt Mode Adapters will be available for this workshop. Testing will be held Monday 8:30am - 6:00pm, Tuesday- Wednesday 8:00am - 6:00pm and Thursday 8:00am – 3:00pm. Check-in for your product is Monday, August 28th from 8:00am - 8:30am.


USB Type-C™ Products
All products using Type-C™ connectors must bring an adapter to allow for the USB-IF to test the product.


Testing Days and Company Representative Requirement

A limited number of testing slots are available and vendors are restricted in the number of products that can be registered. Each registered product must have its own company representative accompany it at all times. Please note that registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Testing Schedule and Pretest Requirement

Mandatory On-Site Check-in:

  • USB PD 2.0 E-Marker, USB Power Brick and USB PD Only Silicon registrants must check-in at the registration desk between 8:00am – 8:30am on the test day selected. Testing for your product will be held from 8:30pm – 6:00pm if you selected Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Thursday testing is from 8:30am - 3:00pm. Vendors are required to provide the file from the Vendor Info File Generator at the time of check-in. Without this file you will be unable to test.
  • Alt Mode Adapters must check-in at the registration desk on Monday, August 28th from 8:00am - 8:30am. Testing for your product will be held Monday 8:30am – 6:00pm, Tuesday - Wednesday 8:00am - 6:00pm, and Thursday 8:00am – 3:00pm.Vendors are required to provide the file from the Vendor Info File Generator at the time of check-in. Without this file you will be unable to test.

Pretest Requirement: To move your registration from submitted to completed you must submit the required pretests.

 Pretest Requirement:

PRETEST REQUIRED: Registrations are pending until the USB-IF has received and approved the following pretest items

All products with PD OR USB Type-CTM

1. Submit your Vendor Info File using the Vendor Info File Generator
2. Submit completed Checklist. Checklists are available here.
3. Submit .jpg picture of your product labeling each port numerically

Please provide these items to admin@usb.org and make sure to indicate the model/part number of the product you have registered.

All USB PD and USB Type-CTM Products must complete the Vendor Info File Generator and provide the test report during check--in.

Vendors may submit test reports performed by company staff.  It is not necessary to hire an authorized test lab to perform these pretests.

Event Registration

  • Register Now by completing the online form (USB-IF Members only)

  • NOTE: The online registration form requires you to select the specific day on which you wish to test.  Check-in is required. You must check-in at the USB Hospitality Suite on the starting day of your testing session to confirm your testing slot. If you do not check-in (i.e. no-show), you forfeit your testing slot and are subject to the cancellation policy outlined below. It will NOT be possible to re-schedule testing.
  • The registration form will reject attempts to register after all the testing slots are filled. After the testing slots have been filled we will start a waiting list. Products on the waiting list are NOT guaranteed a testing slot.

The hotel cut-off date is Friday, August 11, 2017. We recommend you make your reservation as early as possible.This will help ensure your ability to get a room, as the hotel has been known to sell out. Once the group block is filled, rooms will be available at the prevailing rate. If you register and are unable to secure a room Monday- Thursday the standard event cancellation policy will apply. Please note: you are responsible for organizing and requesting a late checkout directly with the hotel.

Additional Information

  • You must pre-register each individual from your company attending the workshop using the online form (USB-IF Members only)

  • Check-in is required. You must check-in at the USB Hospitality Suite on the starting day of your testing session to confirm your testing slot. If you do not check-in (i.e. no-show), you forfeit your testing slot and are subject to the cancellation policy outlined below. It will NOT be possible to re-schedule testing. Check-in times are listed above in the Registration & Workshop Overview Section and listed by product type.   
  • Windows 10 (English version) must be pre-installed on systems. If the system is legacy free (USB ports only – no P/S2 mouse or keyboard) it must provide a working LAN adapter so electrical testing can be conducted using the Windows 10 remote desktop feature.
  • The Vendor ID (VID) used by commercial products should match the Vendor ID of the Integrator. Products should not use the Vendor ID of the USB silicon vendor. Vendor IDs will be checked and verified at this and future workshops. The device will not be eligible for the Integrators List unless it reports the correct VID for your company.
  • Each individual vendor is responsible for their own shipping to and from the event.

Cancellation Policy

If you become unable to attend this workshop, please notify us as soon as possible by email to cancellations@usb.org so your testing reservation can be released to other members with products to test.

Companies that no-show or do not cancel their testing reservation(s)  for the upcoming workshop in writing to cancellations@usb.org by midnight (PT) August 13, 2017 will not be eligible to test at the next scheduled Compliance Workshop, and subject to a $500 cancellation fee. The cancellation fee must be paid before the company will be eligible to register for future workshops. This policy will be strictly enforced.


Confidentiality Policy

We remind each attendee that your company (including for its employees, consultants, or other persons acting on your company’s behalf) has already agreed and is bound to the USB-IF Policy Regarding Confidential Information. Among other things, this policy requires confidential treatment of “information learned or obtained through compliance programs or testing,” which includes your participation in the upcoming Compliance Workshop Please note that other companies may be present and that information about those companies’ activities or products should be handled with appropriate confidentiality.

Schedule Notes

  • If you miss your assigned test time, you forfeit your test slot.  It will NOT be possible to reschedule testing at this workshop.
  • Debug services will not be available.  Please be sure to pre-test and debug your devices before attending.  There will be no rescheduling of test times.  


Cost

Compliance workshop participants are responsible for their own travel, food, and hotel expenses. The USB Implementers Forum will cover all administrative costs. Lunch is not provided.
